Description: We offer a signed drawing by the Italian artist Giuseppe Bernardino Bison. In pen and brown ink, brush and brown wash, over graphite on light brown paper, 10 1/25" x 7 7/8". Signed "Bison" in ink at the lower center. Item #FA00102. Giuseppe Bernardino Bison (1762 – 1844) was a fluent and prolific draughtsman and this is a typical example of his pen and ink drawing style. Such figures appear in the artist’s decorative commissions, but no connection has been established with a known painting, and it is likely that this is one of the numerous drawings by Bison that appear to have been made for their own sake, rather than as preparatory studies. Condition: The drawing is adhered at all four corners to a larger piece of paper and there is a 3" crease at the top margin, otherwise good condition.
