Description: This wonderful abstract oil and acrylic on canvas is signed lower right: “Edward Christiana ’60”. On the verso stretcher is noted: “New Building Series Basic Forms (oil and acrylic)”. There is also a sticker which seems to indicate it was part of the holdings of the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute of Utica and could be borrowed.

Edward Christiana (1912-1992) was an instructor at the School of Art connected with the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute. At the beginning of his art career he worked mostly in watercolor and was elected to the American Watercolor Society in 1949, later shifting to oil painting. His works are in numerous art institution collections including: the Everson Museum, Worcester Art Museum, Albany Institute of History and Art, etc.
