Description: We offer an oil painting on thin academy board by Charles Hunt. It measures 11” x 16” and is in a period gilded frame to 13 ½” x 18 ½”. It is signed and dated in the lower right corner: “C. Hunt 1861.” Hunt depicts his playful genre scene with five boys in a dining room,one of whom is dressed as a military man with his ragtag band of musicians. Item #FA00174.

Charles Hunt (1829–1900) was a well-known British artist of genre scenes. He painted interiors of children playing and pastoral life in England with sense of humor and playful tenderness.

Condition: The frame has some losses and the painting has extensive craquelure, otherwise the piece is in good, untouched condition.
