Description: This serene oil on board is signed and dated: “Clifton Wheeler 51” at the lower left. Verso of both the frame and the board indicates the title of  this work… “The Dam at Brooklyn.” Also noted is Wheeler’s address at the time… “5317 Lowell Ave Indianapolis 19 Indiana.”

Painting measures: 11″ x 15 1/2″ and is housed in its original frame to: 18″ x 22″. Item #FA00477

Clifton Wheeler (1883-1953), American impressionist painter from Indiana, studied with William Forsyth and, at the New York School of Art, studied with William Merritt Chase and Robert Henri. He spent many years as a teacher/painter at the Herron School of Art and Design.

Condition: In very good untouched condition.
