Description: We offer an original signed painting by Haitian artist Wilson Bigaud.  It is painted in oil on a 24” x 24” board and housed in a thin silver frame with the outside dimensions 25 ½” x 25 ½”.  It is signed by the artist in the lower right.

Bigaud depicts a Haitian wedding in a crowded chapel with a charmingly dazed couple surrounded by sharply dressed guests.  Bigaud includes elaborate architectural and interior details such as a tiled floor, an altar covered with palms and candles, and a variety of religious artwork.

Wilson Bigaud was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  He was a member of a lively group of artists founded by Hector Hyppolite and his painting “Paradise” won second place at the 1950  International Exhibit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His work is housed in the the Museum of Modern Art and many private folk art collections.
