Description: This bright snappy screenprint poster promotes a Romare Bearden exhibit in New York City at the Coliseum. Exhibit was sponsored by HMK Fine Arts of NY and Editions Lahumiere of Paris. The image is an unsigned screenprint of Bearden’s Circe Turns a Companion of Odysseus Into Swine.
Printed on a sheet of heavy wove paper measuring 26″ x 27 1/2″. Item #PR00654
Romare Bearden (1911-1988), American artist, author, and songwriter, was considered at the time of his death as “the nation’s foremost collagist”. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the National Institute of Arts and Letters, as well as, the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of many prestigious art institutions, including: the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Perez Art Museum, etc.
Condition: Light soil bottom edge, small bend at right lower corner (barely noticeable, but both mentioned for accuracy). Generally very good condition.
