Description: This rather mystical classical face was painted by Kauffer in the early 20th century. It is watercolor on paper inscribed in ink on the lower margin: “for William Yeo with warmest friendship — E. McKnight Kauffer.”

Edward McKnight Kauffer (1890-1954) is mostly renowned for his graphic design prowess… creating iconic posters for the London Underground, Shell Oil, American Airlines, etc.

Mat window: 6 1/8″ x 8 7/8″. Sheet size: 6 3/8″ x 9 1/2″. Tipped to the mat (approx. 1/4″) around perimeter. Item #FA00493

Condition: Two pinholes at top blank margin, otherwise very good.
