Description: This c. 1940 program for the New York City night club, Cafe Zanzibar, features jazzy imagery of coquettish showgirls, or “Zanzibeauts,” and animated musicians. The list of musical acts for the club include an overture and finale performance by Cootie Williams and his orchestra, Ella Fitzgerald singing her breakout hit of 1938, “A Tisket — A Tasket”, as well as an appearance by the Ink Spots, “America’s Number One Quartette”.
The exterior of the program has a space to write an address and mail it to someone, and a brief history of the nightclub scene of New York and Cafe Zanzibar. 8 1/8″ x 5 1/4″ when folded. Item #AM00311
Condition: Exterior has some minor staining, has a vertical crease from being misfolded and an additional crease from being folded in half again. Generally good condition.
