Description: An exceptionally well-composed image of two young Japanese women asleep on a mat. In the background is a hand-painted four-part screen and an aesthetic movement fireplace screen with a bamboo frame and crane imagery. Photo has original tastefully done hand-coloring.

 

It is numbered and titled in the image: "89. Girls in Bed Room". This photo came with a group of Beato signed images, so this is possibly by him when he was in Japan in the late 1870’s.

 

Image is 8" x 10 1/2" on original cardstock mount to 8 3/4" x 11 1/4". Item #P00107.

 

Condition: A little toning at the upper edge, otherwise fine condition.
