Description: A wonderful 8 1/2" x 6 3/4", black-and-white photograph of David "Mickey" Marcus, the U.S. Army colonel who assisted Israel during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War and who became Israel’s first General. Verso has the Robert Capa/Magnum stamp. In 1947 Capa co-founded Magnum Photos with, among others, the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson. A notation on the verso indicates that this photo was used in a publication on June 20, 1948 just a month after the start of the War. Item # P00062.
Condition: Though there are a few short strokes of opaquing just above Marcus’ head, overall fine condition and contrast.
