Charles Wilson Knapp (1823-1900) spent most of his active career in Philadelphia and New York City. He was an exhibitor at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the National Academy of Design. He painted along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania, Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, White Mountains in New Hampshire, Catskill Mountains in New York, etc.
