Description: This well-executed moonlit coastal scene features two sailing vessels, a rowboat with two figures and, in the distance, a bluff with two lighthouses. It is signed lower left: “J. P. Newell”.

John Perry Newell  (1832-1898) was born in Newport, Rhode Island and spent much of his artistic career there and in Boston. He is most known through his New England lithographic views and marine scenes.

Watercolor is done on a 10 1/2″ x 18″ sheet of thick stock paper. Sold unmatted, unframed. Item #FA00401

Condition: A few scattered tiny spots in the sky, otherwise fine condition.
