Description: This very competent oil on canvas depicts a lone leafless tree with, what appears to be, the remnants of a nest at the upper branches.
It is signed lower right: “P. N. Moran”.
Paul Nimmo Moran (1864-1907) American portrait and landscape painter, was born in Pennsylvania to the prominent artist parents Thomas Moran and Mary Nimmo (Moran). He worked much of his active years in New Jersey and then relocated to Los Angeles, California.
Stretcher measures: 16″ x 20″. Framed in the original 1880’s ornate gilded frame to: 24″ x 28″. Item #FA00484
Condition: There is an old repair to a tear at the base of the tree (which was never inpainted) and three tiny holes in the grassy area. Otherwise both painting and frame are in very good untouched condition.
