Description: This precisely executed acrylic on masonite is a vignetted view of the famous side-wheel steamer, Mary Powell, as it looked in 1872 plying the Hudson River. For 57 years the paddle-wheeler operated between Kingston and New York City with occasional excursions to Albany.
Painting is signed and dated lower right: “L. F. Tantillo ’89” and titled: “Mary Powell 1872″. Board measures 8″ x 10 1/2″. Framed to: 10 1/2″ x 13”. Item #FA00403
Len Tantillo (1946- ) is a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. His meticulously researched marine and historical paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally. His work is in the collections of the Fenimore Art Museum, Minnesota Museum of Marine Art and numerous historical societies. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Marine Artists and the New York Academy of History.
