Milton Glaser (1929-2020) was born in the Bronx, New York in a Hungarian Jewish family. He attended Cooper Union and studied in Italy with the support of Fulbright Scholarship. Glaser co-founded the revolutionary Pushpin Studios in 1954 and later, in 1968, co-founded New York Magazine with Clay Felker. His work is in the collections of many major institutions and museums, notably with two solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art and The Centre Pomidou. 2004 brought Glaser the lifetime achievement award from the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. In 2009 Glaser became the first graphic designer to be awarded the National Medal of the Arts.
