Description

Description: Rios, born in 1941, was a founding member of Con Safo, a San Antonio, Texas-based group which promoted Chicano art. He worked as a muralist and scientific illustrator and in 2008 became a Catholic Deacon.

His faith is apparent in this pen and ink and watercolor drawing of a Christ figure being encircled by the flowing tendrils of a woman holding a communion chalice above his head. It is signed and dated lower right: “Roberto Rios 1967”.
