Description: We offer a print by the French artist Edouard Benedictus, image size is 14 3/8" x 11" on 18 5/8" x 14 5/8" heavy wove ivory paper. Two Art Deco motifs are presented on a cheerful green background: three bright poppy-reminiscent flowers and a thatch of grass. At the bottom of the image it is inscribed ‘Benedictus “Relais”-14’. Bold and graphic from a distance, with wonderful saturation and a bespoke, handmade quality when viewed closely. Item #PR00119.
Édouard Benedictus (1878 -1930) was a painter, writer, composer, chemist and inventor. As as designer he was known for his floral Art Deco textiles patterns, he is widely remembered as the inventor of bullet proof glass.
Condition: Corners are creased, two small marks at bottom of paper, black circle of ink on verso, not visible on recto, otherwise very good.
