Description: Designed to mark the occasion of the World’s Columbian Exposition (1893), as well as the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus “discovering” America, the handle of this Tiffany & Co. spoon bears the image of the explorer standing on a pedestal marked with the year 1492, the year 1893 appearing beneath the decoration. The bowl features an image of the globe beneath an eagle sitting atop a shield emblazoned with American stars and stripes.
The back of the handle is marked: “Tiffany & Co. Sterling Pat. 1893 T”. There is also an engraved “1992”.
