Description: Australian operatic baritone John Brownlee (1900-1969) has signed and inscribed this devilish photo of himself in character as Don Giovanni. The inscription reads: “To John Pitcherale with best wishes John Brownlee”.

John Brownlee debuted at Covent Garden in 1926 and went on to have a successful career, performing throughout Europe and America. He was the first British citizen to become a permanent member of the Paris Opera.
