Description

Description: Jules Massenet (1842-1912) was a French composer, very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and best known for his operas. In this 1898 autographed letter signed to a “good friend,” he promises to send along the manuscript for his opera Griselidis as soon as he can, doing “everything in my power to complete it by next summer.” Massenet is known to have been discussing production of Griselidis with Albert Carre around this time, and it is perhaps to him that this friendly note is addressed.
