Description
Description: A wonderful advertising poster for Messmore & Damon, Inc. "Manufacturers of the Highest Grade Papier Mache Display Decorations". The poster, printed c. 1920, advertises eight different designs featuring large Easter eggs and mechanical/animatronic rabbits meant for Easter display windows at department stores. The advertising is printed in a beautiful deep purple with orange accents, and measures 20 3/4" x 14" overall.
The Messmore & Damon firm, founded in 1916 and located at "404-408 W. 27th Street, New York," designed and manufactured a wide variety of parade floats, dioramas for museums, exhibits for expositions and corporations, displays for department stores, and scenery for movies, television, and Broadway shows. Most of their parade and department store work featured animal and human figures animated by mechanical devices, making them pioneers in the field of animatronics. Item #AM00084.
Condition: The poster has folds lines (only touching the edges of the images), one small additional crease in the top left corner of the image for "Rabbit on Stump". None of them are nearly as noticeable in person as they are in the photo. Otherwise bright and clean; it would look great framed!
