Description: This charming oil on pasteboard depicts an idyllic rural scene with a house which has smoke lazing up from the chimney, a barn, cattle and silhouetted mountains as a backdrop. It is signed lower left: “Loring W. Coleman 1940,” as well as, on the verso (along with the title: “The Foothills of Mansfield”).

Loring Wilkins Coleman (1918-2015) studied art with H. Dudley Murphy, John Ensor and Charles Curtis Allen. He was an Academician of the National Academy of Design, member of the Guild of Boston Artists, the Salmagundi Club and the American Watercolor Society.
Condition: Scattered tiny spots of paint loss, light soil. Generally good condition.
