Description: This subdued impressionist landscape highlights several barns in the foreground and a farmhouse in the distance. The original owners indicated the scene to be in the Catskill, NY area. It is signed lower right: “F. Scherer”.
Fred F. Scherer (1915-2013) worked at the Museum of Natural History for 38 years constructing and painting dioramas. He studied and worked with James Perry Wilson, William R. Leigh, Francis Lee Jacques, Bellmore Brown and Carl Rungius. Later in life he moved to Friendship, Maine and worked as an art consultant for the Maine State Museum in Augusta.

Condition: Very good untouched condition. Could use a cleaning.
