Description: This signature of Elizabeth Hamilton is obviously clipped from a vellum document, with much of the wax seal intact, as well as, the ribbon tie.

Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton (1757-1854) is best remembered as the widow of founding father and America’s first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton. After his death, however, she had her own career as co-founder and deputy director of the New York Orphan Asylum Society. While Elizabeth helped to create a comprehensive collection of her husband’s writings, her own are uncommon today.
