Description: This original  early 1860’s printed broadside is titled: “The Voice of the Philadelphia Union Meeting!” The broadside presents a cheery, patriotic poem which calls for the preservation of the Union. In stalwart rhymes, the poem declares that the North, South, East, and West will forever remain in the United States, particularly emphasizing that the South will still be equal in esteem despite the “treason plotters” who will be punished: “The South shall have her rights–o’er her/Our Eagle spreads its wing–/The treason plotters, brown or white,/Shall on the gallows swing;/For those who wage intestine wars/Shall perish by our Country’s laws!”
