Description: A superb vignette portrait of a Japanese woman with a mysterious smile.

 

This albumen photo has expert period hand-tinting. It is unsigned and unidentified, but probably acquired during a late 1870’s or early 1880’s grand tour adventure.

 

Image is 10 ½” x 8 1/8” mounted on original stiff board to 11 ¾” x 9 ¼”. Item #P00108.

 

Condition: There are a few tiny specks on her cheek, the corners of the mount are bumped, generally very good with wonderful contrast and resolution.
