Description
Description: This 12 1/4″ x 10″ broadside advertises the Beacon coal stove, “A New Base-Burning and Self-Feeding Parlor Coal Stove, with Diving Flues and Oven in the Top.” The stoves were manufactured and sold by M. L. Filley of Troy, NY, and by Filley & Lyman of New York. The broadside shows a highly-detailed wood engraving of the Beacon flanked by two advertising taglines: “Unsurpassed for Beauty and Operation!!” and “A Continual and Economical Heater!!”.
The engraving was done by Pierson of New York and printed in Troy by A. Picard. On the verso in period ink is the file notation: “Bills S 1871”. Item #AM00228
Condition: Fold lines, a few small spots, tiny chip at right margin, otherwise in good condition with a crisp image.
