Description: Mia Slavenksa was a Croatian-born prima ballerina and a key member of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo during the years 1938-52 and 1954-55. She was known for her roles in Giselle, Swan Lake, Nut Cracker, and Les Sylphides. In this beautiful, 8” x 10” full photograph by Maurice Seymour, she strikes an arabesque in her lead performance of Swan Lake for Ballet Russe. Signed “John Pitcherale / Sincerely / Mia Slavenska /1992” across the lower half of the photograph.
