Description: In the finest wood engraving tradition, Cheffetz rendered this idyllic rural scene with precision and remarkable tonal variation. It is titled and signed in graphite on the bottom blank margin: “In Deep Vermont Asa Cheffetz.” This is a superb impression with large full margins. It was published by the Associated American Artists, c. 1947, in an edition of 250.
Asa Cheffetz (1897-1965) was a wood engraver whose studio was in Springfield, MA. He was a member of the National Academy and his works are in the collections of numerous prestigious art institutions, including: Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Baltimore Museum of Art, etc.
