Description: This captivating forest interior landscape coincides with the best of Arts & Crafts vellum tiles and ceramics. It is a lush impressionist oil on canvas in oranges and purples. It is signed lower right: “William Hurd Lawrence”.
Stretcher measures: 20″ x 20″ and is framed to 25″ square. Verso of canvas is signed as well and titled: “The Road to the Sea.” Item #FA00457
William Hurd Lawrence (1866-1938), artist and illustrator, succeeded Howard Pyle as chief illustrator for Harper’s Weekly. In 2010 the Bennington Museum (Vermont) exhibited his work in “Vermont Impressions”.
Condition: A kidney bean-size loss of paint in the sky, otherwise good untouched condition.
