Description: This striking image is based on the Chinese astrological calendar. Mitchell used multiple printing techniques… mezzotint, soft ground, aquatint and hand coloring… to achieve a vibrant result. The print was commissioned by the Print Club of Albany as the 1997-1998 annual offering.

Sharon Augusta Mitchell (b. 1960) has her studio in California. She received her degree in printmaking from the College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland and had multiple residencies at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley.

Platemark: 13 3/4″ x 8 3/4″. Printed on a deckle-edged sheet of heavy wove paper measuring: 20 1/2″ x 15″. Editioned, titled, signed, and dated in graphite along lower edge. Item #PR00446
