Description: This bold screenprint is part of Bearden’s “Odysseus Suite”. He blended classical mythology with African American cultural iconography. It is signed in graphite lower right: “Romare Bearden” and printed on heavy wove paper with a “1590Lana” watermark and embossed at the lower right corner: “HMK [Fine Arts]”.

Romare Bearden (1911-1988), American artist, author, and songwriter, was considered at the time of his death as “the nation’s foremost collagist”. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the National Institute of Arts and Letters, as well as, the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of many prestigious art institutions, including: the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Perez Art Museum, etc.
Condition: 1″ tear upper right blank margin (does not touch image…blank margin almost 3″ wide), slight bump at left blank margin, otherwise clean, bright and in very good condition.
