Description: Two-time United States Poet Laureate Howard Nemerov (1920-1991) signed this brief note to a fan which seems to have been typed onto a photocopy of his poem “A Primer of the Daily Round” from his 1960 book, New & Selected Poems. The typewritten message reads: “Dear Miss Lenz, Here it is, from New & Selected Poems, 1960.” Nemerov has typed “15 xi 76” which most likely indicates that he wrote this letter on November 15, 1976.

Howard Nemerov was appointed U.S. Poet Laureate from 1963 to 1964 and again from 1988 to 1990. He was awarded the National Book Award for Poetry and the Pulitzer Prize for his 1977 work, The Collected Poems of Howard Nemerov.
