Description: This stylized color woodblock print is typical of Watanabe’s visual interpretation of biblical subjects. It is dated and signed in graphite at the lower margin: “1974 Sadao Watanabe” and has an additional red stamp.

Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996) was a student of textile dye artist Keisuke Serizawa. He is mostly known for his gospel-related prints in the mingei (folk art) tradition.
