Description: In this small oil on card stock, Loustas, with a few broad strokes and muted colors, successfully captured the mood of the Greek coast. This 9″ x 9 1/2″ painting is signed and dated lower left “K. Loustas 1968” (a strip of paper which had been attached to the now discarded damaged frame states: “Kostas Loustas – Maltese – Sithonia 1968 – Greece”).

Kostas Loustas (1933-2014) studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts with Yiannis Moralis. He spent a number of years living and working in New York City during the 1960s and had solo exhibitions in NY, London and Greece. A major retrospective of his work was held at the Vafopoulio Cultural Centre in the Thessaloniki in 1991.
