Description: In this chatty autograph letter signed, Benton writes to a “Yankee Benton”… his “cousin” Blanche Benton Longren. He apologizes for not immediately acknowledging her letter “because I was at the time deep in the process of adding another chapter to my old book ‘Artist in America’ for a new edition. After writing all day, correcting and rewriting, I had no stomach for letters, even nice ones like yours.”

Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975), the American artist and muralist, was a full member of the National Academy of Design. He is most associated with his embrace of the Regionalist art movement. Letter is written on a 10 1/2″ x 7 1/4″ sheet of personal stationery imprinted with his name and address. He has signed: “Thomas H. Benton”. Item #A01295
