Description: This intensely colored watercolor and oil on paper depicts a boat with a single mast moored in front of numerous buildings. It is initialed lower left “G. D.” [Gershon Davidovitz, sometimes spelled Davidowicz or Davidovitch]. It appears to be dated 1963 under the signature.

Gershon Davidowicz (1914-1988) was born in Poland, studied at the Berlin State Academy of Art and was one of the founders of Ein Hod Artists’ Village in Israel (with Marcel Janco and others). He won the Dizengoff Prize for painting in 1964 along with Reuven Rubin.
Condition: Heavy paper appears to be laid on board. There are several small spots that have lifted (bubbled) from the backing. Generally very good.
