Description: This soft focus photographic headshot of Gavrilov is tipped to its original mat. Below it Gavrilov has inscribed and signed: “To Ethel Sager with my appreciation for her appearance in ‘Ballet Moderne’ June 1937”.

Alexander Gavrilov (1892-1959), ballet dancer and director, was with the Diaghilev Ballet and took over from Vaslav Nijinsky. He performed with Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1916.

Photo is 6 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ tipped to an 11″ x 8 1/4″ mount. Item #A01387
