Description: On June 30, 1925, Vanity Fair editor Frank Crowninshield invited the Australian actor O. P. Heggie to “a luncheon at the Coffee House Club” with Paul Morand (an early French modernist with fascist sympathies), whom he calls “a really delightful and interesting man.”

Typed letter signed on 8½” x 5 ½” ivory Vanity Fair stationery. Item #A01972

Frank Crowninshield (1872-1947) was an American writer, art/theater critic, and editor of Vanity Fair. He was instrumental in developing the magazine into a literary journal.

O. P. Heggie (1877-1936), an Australian theater and film actor, began in amateur theater productions in Sydney and London. He gained prominence on Broadway (NYC), playing the lead in Androcles and The Lion, Old Man Minick in Minick, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice, Diggory in She Stoops to Conquer and others. He moved to Hollywood in 1928 and appeared in 27 films, including: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu, etc.

Condition: Has mailing fold lines and a light crease, otherwise very good condition.
