Description: Virtuoso pianist, composer, music teacher & inventor Josef Hofmann (1876-1957) signed this 3 ¼” x 5 ½” slip of paper "Josef Hofmann, Raduor Pa. Dec. 30th 1923".
As a composer, Hofmann published over 100 works, many of those under the pseudonym Michel Dvorsky. He became a US citizen in 1926 and was the first head of the piano department of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and became the Institute’s director in 1927. Contemporaries such as Rachmaninoff, Ignaz Friedman, and Godowsky considered Hofmann to be, overall, the greatest pianist of their generation. Item #A00785.
 
Condition: Fold line and there are two black photo corners adhered to the paper, otherwise in very good condition.
