Description: This fine impression of a classic print by Sloan embraces his fascination with New York City nightlife. Here a group of revelers are entering a prohibition-era basement speakeasy with a sign that advertises “tea and dance.” Signed in graphite lower right: “John Sloan” and in the plate as well.
John Sloan (1871-1951), painter and etcher, is considered one of the founders of the Ashcan School of American Art. His works are in the collections of most major American museums… Whitney, Brooklyn Museum, Corcoran, National Gallery, etc.

Condition: Several creases in the blank margins, a spot of mounting residue on verso. Generally very good.
