The recipient is likely to be Frederic Crowninshield, also a prominent American artist and author.
The letter is written on an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ sheet of stationery imprinted “3, Adelphi Terrace House, Robert Street, Strand, London. W. C.” Item #A01687
Joseph Pennell (1857-1926) studied with James Lambdin and Thomas Eakins and was a prolific printmaker, illustrator, author. He spent most of his career abroad and produced numerous prints of landmarks, landscapes, and industrial scenes.
Condition: Pencil notation upper left, otherwise fine condition.
