Frederick D. Grant (1850-1912) was a soldier in the 4th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, served as aide-de-camp to General William Tecumseh Sherman in Europe, was later assigned to the staff of General Philip Sheridan and promoted to lieutenant colonel, and was with George Armstrong Custer during the Black Hills expedition. Grant also served as U.S. Minister to Austria-Hungary from 1889 to 1893.
Condition: A few stray marks, overall very good condition with a bold, neat signature.
