Description: In this 1873 autograph letter signed Harper states in part: “…after two attempts I did see the Earl… he told me to come again in about 10 days… he was too busy to look at a picture I took him… it was one of those I am doing for him… he told me he wished me to do a lot of Scotch work for him…”

Written on a 7″ x 4 1/2″ sheet of stationery and signed: “H. A. Harper”. Item #A01550

Henry Andrew Harper (1835-1900), painter/watercolorist, was a member of the British Research Foundation and exhibited his paintings in London at the Royal Academy of Arts. He focused mostly on landscapes of Palestine and Egypt and published his views in several books… “Journal of a Painter in the Land of the Bible” and “Journeys in the Land of Israel”, etc.

Condition: Mounting remnants on verso at left edge, otherwise very good.
