Description: In this one-page manuscript signed proposal of 24 October 1867, addressed to the President and Director of the Glens Falls Railroad Company, I. B. Culvers (I.B. Culvers & Co, Jersey City) proposes to finish construction by November 1, 1868.

“. . . The road I will run or cause to be run when so completed for the accommodation of freight and passengers between Glens Falls and the Saratoga and White Hall Railroad. Said road franchises shall be owned by me when so completed. . . .

The Directors shall furnish the right of way and land for the whole of said road and I to contribute the sum of five thousand ($5000) dollars as payment therefor. Also the Directors to agree that said donations shall be paid in cash and in full when the work is so far advanced as above stated.” Signed “Respectfully submitted/I. B. Written and signed on the first page of 12” x 7 ¾” ruled stationery. Item #AM00360
