Description: A very attractive document appointing George M. Cuyler Paymaster of the 27th Brigade in the 7th Division New York State Militia. John A. King signed lower right as Governor and Frederick Townsend signed lower left as Adjutant General.

Printed on a 15 3/4″ x 18 3/4″ sheet of heavy onionskin paper. Item #A01633

John Alsop King (1788-1867) was a U.S. Congressman, as well as, Governor of New York (1857-1858).

Frederick Townsend (1825-1897) was brevetted a Brigadier General after the Civil War and served as NY Adjutant General from 1857 to 1861 and again in 1880.

Condition: Fold lines, light soil, one 1/2″ diameter stain/drop in center of document, otherwise good condition.
