Description

Description: This New York State Assembly report, dated January 31, 1825, proclaims that the state treasury paid a total sum of $88,714.15 between 1815-1824 “for the destruction of wolves.” The document further discusses the laws passed, and later repealed due to “great frauds,” which set the bounty price for full grown wolves and their whelps. The last part describes the petition raised by Ebenezer Baldwin and Peter Gansevoort in which they requested compensation for their efforts “in discharging the duties assigned to them” as the commissioners of the 1822 act.
