Description: This single leaf features a detailed map of the region around Denmark and Southern Sweden. We believe it is from the 1578 printing by Henrich Petri in Basel of Münster’s 1544 comprehensive geographical study.

Sebastian Münster (1488-1552), German geographer, cartographer, and theologian, is mostly remembered for his “Cosmographia”, which went through 24 editions during the one hundred years following its initial 1544 publication. He also published Hebrew grammars and translated the Hebrew Bible.

Condition: A few errant spots, 1/2″ tear upper blank margin, two pinholes in map, generally good condition.
