Description: United States Supreme Court Justice Stanley Reed (1938-1957) boldly signed this 3 ½” x 4 3/8” card imprinted with “Supreme Court of the United States Washington, D.C.”
Reed was nominated to the Supreme Court by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1938 after having served as Solicitor General of the United States (1935-1938). He wrote the majority opinion in Smith v. Allwright, Gorin v. United States, and Adamson v. California, as well as the dissenting opinions in Illinois ex re. McCollum v. Board of Education and McCollum v. Board of Education. Item #A00814.
