Description: A mid-19th century Staffordshire spill vase that stands 6” high, 4” wide and 1 ¾” deep with two figures in Scottish Highlands dress. The boy and girl hold hands and dance over a small campfire in front of a tree stump with its telltale orange interior. The decorative paint extends around the sides of the piece but is absent on the back, typical of the flatback style Staffordshire. A charming piece to add to your collection! Item #DA00138.
Condition: The gold line around the base is worn, there is some prominent crazing, a fleck of missing glaze at the top of the tree trunk, and a dirtied line in the hat of the figure on the right. Even with these few faults, most very common in early Staffordshire, it is charming and quite displayable.
